For this blog, we were assigned two separate readings to reflect and relate what we learned from the readings to the knowledge we have gained from the activities we have done. Outdoor Education involves the economy, culture, and the environment. It is organized learning that takes place outdoors and is an approach to learning that happens through experiences rather than just reading from literature. Learning can take place outdoors without much equipment at all. It’s about doing what you can with what you have and enjoying the experience. By developing a deeper relationship with nature you become more open to adversity that will enhance your personal and social development. Latent learning happens often when we are constantly creating new experiences, though it is not realized at the time learning takes place. Learning is always happening and will come true when specific events/experiences that need the knowledge you learned without knowing to be demonstrated.
Thus far on this trip we have had many new experiences with chances to learn about and enjoy the outdoors. We have gone Caving, Rock Climbing, Trekking, Rafting, Camping and more. All working together as leaders to accomplish our goals each day. As a team of leaders we are constantly learning from each other and the experiences we are having with one another.
